Sparky’s Turn

So, while Roxanne Shante, the Real Roxanne and UTFO are all going at each other, who asked Sparky D to get involved? On this fine slab of wax on the seminal Nia label, her justification is that she’s from Brooklyn, home of UTFO. As good a rapper as Sparky D was – and she’s often overlooked in any roll call of pre 90’s female MC’s – her disses here aren’t really up to scratch, referring to Shante’s ‘Cracky, wacky voice’. As cat fights go, this one is gloves on at this stage. What is up to scratch is some typical Spyder D production, with the big man going crazy on the drum machine.

theres a whole LP of sparky vs. shante with them wearing boxing gloves on the sleeve, I love that shit, spyder D’s alegend and sparky too, but now sparky’s gone all religious and she’s a gospel singer! Check her out on myspace! (she has one rap tune on there too).
