Back in the early 80’s when Rapper’s Delight captivated a nation and went on to influence a generation, rap music was being pimped even then. Forget the T-Pain features, 50 Cent water and Kanye West x Louis Vuitton of the present day, rap was parodied, commercialised and bastardised from the second it became available on commercial formats. Step up two veteran comedians Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield with their respective 1980 and 1983 spoof 12″ releases. It’s hard to imagine these guys were rapping before KRS One, Rakim, Nas and, err, Monie Love. You could argue hip-hop died when it first stepped out of the ghetto’s.

Bobcat Goldwaith had a sweet rap on the Burglar soundtrack too.
Also can’t forget Eddie Murphy & Joe Piscopo’s ‘Honeymooner’s Rap’.
Not a comedian by any stretch, but there’s a Norman Bates “Rap” on the Psycho III soundtrack.
I have all these (including rappin rodney) except the Chevy record. Gonna get it off ebay right now.
