Classic Skits #1

Label

To kick off our new skit feature we chose the illusive ‘Double Huey Skit’ by De La Soul which features Plug 3 Maseo rhyming. There’s also a guy called Double B on there, if anyone knows who that is then let us know, it’s probably obvious but ain’t got a clue. This track originally featured on the ‘Say No Go’ test pressing but didn’t make it to the commercial release due to samples. Luckily it did pop up on the re-release of 3 Feet High a couple of years back which is worth picking up, it also features the many skits off De La 12 inches that didn’t make the albums . What are you favourite skits? We’ve pulled out some killers for the site over the next few weeks.

Double B was a part of Resident Alien!!!! It Takes a Nation of Suckas To let us In was produced by Prince Paul, hence the connection.

Mack Daddy On The Left would be my personal fav De La single skit. Fav De La album skit would probably be either Transmitting Live From Mars or Rap De Rap Show.

I’ll be obvious and pick Shark N*ggas (Biters) as another fav.

2 Live Crew did some skits that I found funny when I was 13, as did Ices T and Cube.
Generally I find skits severely annoying and I’m glad they seem to have been phased out. Theres nothing wosre than hearing a rapper getting a simulated blowjob when you’re listening on headphones

I always thought it was Double P not B and that Double P was a name for Prince Paul…

the whole of the Prince Paul Psychoanalysis album and the Masta Ace Disposable arts skits I can still listen too, can’t listen to the Long Hot Summer skits though! The Black Sheep “U Mena I’m Not” is dope too
