Same Name, Different Game #1

March 26th, 2009 · 4 Comments

It’s no surprise that rappers ran out of new song titles a long time ago. When you’re making albums with 22 tracks, you’re going to use the stock of words up quick fast. That said, there are some song titles so unique that to copy it would be downright biting. For example, you couldn’t drop an album now with a track called ‘Tongue of Labyrinth’ or ‘Demanding Cycle of a Wordbound Hammerhead’ and pass it off as mere coincidence, could you? No, it’s the simpler titles that are set to be re-used and recyled down the years. Which leads us to this pointless philosophical discussion: which is better? In this case, is it shotgun mentalist Just Ice’s ‘Lyric Licking’ or Miami Bass exponent turned run-of-the-mill rapper MC A.D.E’s song of the same name? We’ll let you decide – and your enthusiasm or lack thereof will also help decide whether we bother resurrecting this half-arsed idea again to weight up the merits of ‘Damn, I’m Good’ – King Tre or Singing MC Breeze?
