Our glacial process to a complete audio record of the Roxanne wars (topical, we know) continues. Dammit, we’re so close we can smell the end, with only 3 records now eluding us. We might have mp3’s of them, but it doesn’t count until we have the vinyl gathering dust in our racks reserved for 80’s ephemera. But it’ll happen, we know that. After no movement in months, two of the wants-list arrived in a week, with Elease The Original Roxanne’s effort turning up in an online store and Werner Von Wallenrod, blogger extraordinaire, tracking another one down for us. In fact, we have to say an extra big thanks to Werner – the Maggotron EP doesn’t turn up on eBay often, and when it does it fetches a pretty penny. He tracked down Maggotron himself, bought his last 2 copies from him, got them signed and then gave one to us at cost price. He’s nice with his. The track itself is a tangential Roxanne effort, throwing in a few samples and vocal references to the best-ever dis saga, but basically it’s a reworking of ‘Planet Detroit’. Fuck it, it rocks. Elease, on the other hand, gives us two shots across the bows, one that sounds like identikit Roxanne baiting, and another that sounds like, well, the same thing actually. We’re confused by Elease’s name – surely she’s the original Elease? Teddy Ted from the Awesome Two is involved in this somehow, but the story is, apparently, that Elease tried out for the role of Roxanne in UTFO’s ‘Roxanne, Roxanne’ video, but it all went tits up. The Discogs bio of her, culled from her myspace page, says “Due to a conflict of interest she left Select Records and was FORCED into early retirement”. More on this breaking news later…

maggotron rules! props for owning that record. The Real Roxanne used to be on myspace with photo’s of her and her daughters, but now she’s vanished and there’s this Elease on there, don’t know much about what happened, but it looks like she was jilted for the Real Rox we know and love at the last minute…maybe those differences with Select Records were something to do with her refusing to sleep with all of Full Force, UTFO and pretty rick and boo ski.

Yeah, the boricua is still is still myspace and so is the “other” Rox. The bori Rox, the REAL ROXANNE, Joanne with the plan! Man I used to be in LOVE with her back in the 80’s. She looked exactly like my ex back in those days! Lol! Now the Real Roxanne is a nurse in Manhattan I think she said.

Do you have a list of all the Roxanne Records you have, and have heard about and still have yet to find? I’m seeing these entries are mentioning a few of them at a time as you gain them, but it would be real interesting to have a grand total list, (in as much of chronological order as possible).
